High Risk Civilian Contractor - Medical Package

5 days

Details:

Watching your friends bleed to death is no way to spend an afternoon. This 5-day course will take you from a person who can barely apply a band-aid into a LIFESAVER! This course is great for Tactical Medics, Contractors, EMTs and Paramedics wanting to learn new techniques, and any shooter, husband, or parent who would like to have some real world knowledge on how to save lives.

You won’t be sitting in some sterile classroom all week! You will be out on the range doing live fire operator down drills, evacuations, learning how to guide air evacuation choppers!

Learning how to fight is the easy part. Challenge yourself to learn how to save your team mates, friends, and family when injuries occur!

This program will prepare you to manage life and limb injuries as well as many common problems occurring in tactical, operational, combat, and other high hazard settings. You will gain extensive practical, hands on knowledge, skill, and experience in saving lives under the most extreme conditions.

Topics you will learn and practice in this 5 day, 50+ hour program include:
  - Tactical medicine & care of the combat casualty methodology
  - Gunshot, blast, burn, and related trauma
  - Tactical scene evaluation and tactical triage
  - Movement of patients and management of weapons & gear under threat
  - Patient evaluation
  - Airway & breathing interventions & support
  - Bleeding control interventions & support
  - Chest injury interventions & support
  - Orthopedics, splinting, fracture & dislocation management
  - Soft tissue & wound management
  - Shock management & fluid therapies
  - Head & spine injury interventions & support
  - Environmental injuries
  - Selected medications use
  - Common problems, dental injuries, & related minor issues

In this program you will learn to use all of the components in our purpose designed "blow out kit" including nasal airways, oral support devices, needle cricothyroidotomies & chest decompression, tourniquets, trauma dressings, specialized dressing, bleeding control agents, fluid therapies, several medications, and additional materials. Various patient movement and immobilization devices will be practiced with. Always, practical, real-world interventions and improvisational solutions will be emphasized.

We are typically asked what type of physical condition a student should be in to attend this course. There is no easy answer. If you want to get the most out of this course you should be in moderate condition at least. Simply put, if you cannot run 100 yards with full gear (or a 25 pound backpack) you will not get your money's worth. Can you still take the course? We hope you will use this as a motivation for getting yourself "battle ready".

It is best if you arrive by 1800hrs the day before class begins for your in-brief. You are required to lodge with your team and not at a hotel.

Our Fighting Rifle class is a pre-requisite (within one year) for anyone who has not been in a deployable status on a Tier One SOCCOM unit within the last calendar year. This is non-negotiable.
