NOTICE - ALL of our classes are photographed and or audio/video recorded. If you do not want your image captured make necessary preparations to obscure your identity. It is YOUR responsibility. We will make reasonable concessions to avoid recording you but in the end it could happen and it is your responsibility to avoid it.
I noticed the are classes with the same name except "Mobile" on the end. Why is that?
That "mobile" designation simply means that is a class our mobile training team teaches on the road. The course content is the same as our home range in Tennessee.
I want to get some formal training. Are there any prerequisites?
Some classes have a prerequisite. Our ONLY real requirment after that is your willingness to learn and follow instructions. Our classes are not “gun safety” classes where the emphasis is on gun nomenclature and basic manipulations. We emphasize defensive mindset and tactical shooting. We expect students to arrive with the basic knowledge of how to load, unload, aim, and fire their weapon – while obeying the gun safety rules. However, even if you have never fired a gun before, you will not be overwhelmed and our instructors will guide you safely through the learning process. There are two main rules for attending one of our classes: have an open mind and be safe at all times.
What class should I take FIRST?
Fighting Pistol is our "core" class and we recommend it as the first course from us regardless of your path afterward.
I’ve been shooting for years; do I really need formal training?
Shooting skills are only one aspect of a gunfight. Mindset is the most important aspect and could keep you out of the fight or at least put you in a position of advantage. Tactics are also important and will allow you to manipulate time and distance to good effect. Our classes will show you what you may have accidentally overlooked. We teach classes to a lot of professional warriors in special operations and SWAT. I am sure we have something to offer every shooter.
I have several guns, which one should I bring to class?
You should bring the gun you have decided to carry or are most likely to use for self defense. It’s poor planning to train with one gun and then carry another. However, that does not mean that you can only train with one gun. Many students bring two or more. They start with one and switch to another as the class progresses. It’s a good way to find out which gun you can use most effectively.
But I don’t have a gun; can I still take a class?
Yes. We rent firearms (location dependant, please inquire). After the class, you will have a much better understanding of what to look for in a defensive firearm. It is like test driving a car. If you do not currently own one please come and take a class first. You will walk into your local gun shop with plenty of knowledge for a solid purchase.
What other equipment do I need?
There is a full gear list on every course description. Please read it. You should also read the reviews of the course you have signed up for on our forum www.GetOffTheX.com.
I’m in Law Enforcement; can I train in my duty gear?
You should train the way you will fight. Police and security personnel are encouraged to train with their duty gear. However, you should also consider doing at least part of the training in your “off duty” mode or come back and take the same class again with a concealed carry holster.
Do you train the physically impaired?
Who needs training more!? We are glad to help anyone who needs to be able to fight. Contact us about your needs and we will make it happen. Our students have included the wheelchair bound, people missing fingers, hands, arms and legs as well as people with vision impairments. We are PROUD to make you a better fighter!
What type of physical condition should I be in to attend your classes?
As long as you are not under doctor’s order to stay in bed our courses should be fine. Most of our classes have only moderate movement, bending, or kneeling. If there was a particular drills that you couldn’t do because of flexibility or another reason that is not an issue with us. Because most of our courses are outdoor you may need to choose an appropriate timeframe. The exception to this is our High Risk Contractor series of classes. They are very physically demanding.
Do you allow spectators at your classes?
Yes we do. The cost is the same as participation. When you sign up on-line there is a place after you add your credit card information for comments. Simply put "I am attending as a spectator" in that area.
I heard that instructors and students sometimes use foul language. Is that true?
Yes. The course material is of a mature nature and we use adult language during the training. Please be advised classes are “Rated R”. These are serious subjects and we only need those serious about learning how to win gunfights to attend. If you require more etiquette in your training environment we encourage you attend another school.
Can I have ammo shipped ahead?
Certainly. Have it shipped to YOUR NAME C/O Tactical Response 162 West Main Camden TN 38320.
Can I buy ammo from you?
Yes we sell ammunition at competitive prices. Please e-mail Gear@TacticalResponse.com for current pricing.
I heard you guys hate Wolf ammo. Is that true?
No but YOU will if you try to use it in your AR style rifle at our classes. The cases get stuck in the chamber after the guns are hot. You may be thinking "I have never had a problem" but don't worry. You will. We ask that you only use factory new brass cased quality ammo in our rifle courses. We DO RECOMMEND Wolf in AKs and Glocks and as a matter of fact in most other guns; just not ARs.
Where can I BUY gear?
We have a gear shop in Camden TN and the website is www.TacticalResponseGear.com
Is lodging REALLY free in Camden?
Well sort of. Our founder and CEO James Yeager has a 2,000 sq ft “Team Room” in the first floor of his home. It has 12 bunks, couches, tables, wireless internet, bath, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, awesome library and DVD collection and unmatched camaraderie with fellow students. It has a “frat house” like atmosphere that some students love and others hate. This is the private residence of James Yeager and is not owned by Tactical Response. This is just a show of kindness and is only for Tactical Response students (not schools we host at our range).
Don’t worry there are nice hotels nearby our Camden range:
Best Western Homeplace Inn: 731-584-2222
Country Hearth Inn: 731-584-6666
Birdsong Resort and Marina: 731-584-7880
Do you REALLY have a 100% refund policy if I am not happy?
Yes. All you have to do is articulate why the course was unsatisfactory in front of the other students before class is dismissed.
What books or DVDs do you recommend?
If there is ONE book it is “The Principles of Personal Defense” by Jeff Cooper. This book and others we recommend is available at www.TacticalresponseGear.com As far as DVDs we might be biased but our Firearms Training DVDs are second to none and are also available at our Gear Store.
I want to buy some gear but I am not sure what I need. Can you offer suggestions?
Join our forum www.GetOffTheX.com and you will read more about gear than you can stand!

Do you take checks, CCs, PayPal, wampum, etc?
Checks, Money Orders and Credit cards are great. PayPal sucks balls and is anti-gun. We also take trades on tactical gear, military weapons and disaster supplies. E-mail JamesYeager@TacticalResponse.com with your ideas and offers.
Will you hold a class without a deposit?
We will in limited cases for Alumni, Police and Military personnel until folks let us down. Please inquire at Info@TacticalResponse.com.

Our refund and cancellation policy is prominently displayed on our site during the pre-registration process. Please read it carefully. In short - don't sign up for a class unless you intend on taking it.

Closest Airport to Camden TN?
We recommend Nashville Tennessee as it is 90 minutes away. Memphis TN is two hours and the city of Memphis is very dangerous. Avoid Memphis if at all possible.
Can I contact other students to see if there are carpooling options from the airport or other places?
We suggest you start a post on www.GetOffTheX.com in the "Upcoming Training Opportunities" with a title like “Anyone interested in a carpool for the July Fighting Pistol in Camden TN?”

We do not have any standard discounts but if you have extenuating circumstances please contact us. You will get trained. Our training is less costly and more valuable than other schools so even at full price we are a good deal.

Should I bring an extra rifle/pistol or will there be a loaner when mine breaks?
It never hurts to have a spare but rentals are available in most cases.
Do you rent firearms for training?
For Camden classes, yes we do.
- Pistol (Glocks 9/40/45): $25/day
- Shotgun (12 ga): $40/day
- Carbine (AK): $40/day
- Precision Rifle: (.308) $50/day
Firearms rental includes magazines and the support gear (sling, holster, mag pouches, etc.) that you need to complete the class. E-mail Info@TacticalResponse.com well ahead of time to reserve yours. Rental does NOT include ammunition (yes we have been asked that). Guns must be returned at the end of each training day.
Where can I read student reviews of Tactical Response courses?
Join our forum www.GetOffTheX.com and you will read THOUSANDS of course reviews.
Do I have to be a soldier or cop to take a class?
We train any law abiding citizens.
I have had a lot of training; can I take the advanced class without taking the core class?
No and there are no exceptions. If we “make” you take the core class and you don’t learn anything we will refund your money. This is not some attempt to extort more money from students. We get this question ALL of the time. Please consider taking Fighting Pistol (you will see it is NOT a basic class) and if you are dissatisfied we will gladly refund your money. We will tell you that many, many shooters have reluctantly agreed and have all been MORE than happy with the class. It is not that the classes you have taken are “lesser” than ours but each school has its own personality. If you studied a martial art and became a black belt and then went to a different martial art discipline you wouldn’t expect them to simply hand you a black belt would you? Of course not. Although both martial arts styles involve violent actions they are not the same. It is the same in firearms schools.
Do you recommend taking any training before Fighting Pistol?
Not necessarily because you might get contradictory information. It is a good idea to watch our Fighting Pistol DVD though or any other DVD that is course relevant.
Do you recommend taking Fighting Pistol and Advanced Fighting Pistol together or should I wait and practice what is learned in fighting pistol before going further?
People take them back-to-back all of the time and have a blast!
I'm not yet 18/21. Can I train with Tactical Response?
We have no real age restriction. The student must be responsible and if they are under 18 parental supervision may be required. The youngest student we have had was an 11 year old girl. She did very well in Fighting Pistol. Over the age of 18 you can vote and join the military so you're fine to train with us.
I'm in my 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's. Can I still train with you?
Don't worry that your knee doesn't work or your eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be. If you own a gun for defense you need training. Learning the Mindset, tactics and skills to defend youself isn't just for young people. As long as you can be safe we want you to train with us.
Can I buy guns from you?
Yes. All laws apply.
Can I buy Machine Guns from you?
Yes we sell machine guns and suppressors. All laws apply.
Can I buy a silencer/suppressor from you?
Yes we sell machine guns and suppressors. All laws apply.
Why do I have to have a “sturdy gun belt”?
We recommend a double thickness leather gun belt or a nylon “instructor” belt that will support the weight of the gun and magazines.
Can I use a drop-leg/tactical holster?
Yes, but train as you will fight. If you are a Concealed Permit holder taking Fighting Pistol we want you to carry in class like you carry daily.
I noticed Tactical Response doesn't do any unarmed combat or knife classes. Who do you recommend?
We use and recommend the folks at http://www.truthincombat.com/
What languages are used in your classes?
English only. If your non-English speaking group of 8 or more wants to bring an interpreter you are welcome to organize a private training class. You will have to train separately from the English speaking students because the interpretations takes up valuable class time.
Are your courses “certified”?
This is an odd question for us. Certified by whom? Our company is backed by professional liability insurance and is as “certified” as anyone else. One thing is certain though and that is you will be a certified badass after our class!
Do you offer job placement?
Why don’t we release instructor’s names before a scheduled class?
1. We don’t want to get accused of a “bait and switch” if one of us gets sick. It has happened and we don’t want to make people think we are being deceptive. We aren’t.
2. We want to discourage “hero worship”. There are no heroes at Tactical Response.
3. We are selling a philosophy, not a person or merely a training class. As silly as it will sound to some folks we know in our heart this is the only true American Martial Art. Our classes are far more than just some range time and are called “life changing” by many of our students for a reason.
4. Don’t worry if a certain Instructor isn’t at your class. It never fails that when we send our cadre to a location the host ALWAYS asks for the same guys back. Why? Because our entire staff is knowledgeable and professional.
5. It is disrespectful to our team for us to act as if one is a star and others merely underlings.
6. It is bad business. One person cannot be in five places at once.
7. Many people feel as if they may be slighted if the “Big Name” instructor for the outfit isn’t at their particular class. For most organization this is true and I understand why. Most folks won’t hire people that are smarter or can outperform them. The difference at Tactical Response is I am not afraid to hire guys as good as or better than me. ALL of my crew is squared away. Look at their bios....many are more experienced than I am…some are funnier too!
Private training is $500 per day and you might get your favorite Instructor as luck of the draw. If you insist on a certain one we will schedule it and the charge will be $1,000 per day.
I heard some classes are half price tuition. Is that true?
Yes in some cases it is true. To get the classes for half price you must (#1) have already taken it, (#2) come to Camden TN and (#3) it must be a qualifying class.
What classes are eligible for half price tuition?
- Basic Fighting Pistol
- Fighting Pistol
- Advanced Fighting Pistol
- Fighting Rifle
- Advanced Fighting Rifle
- Intermediate Distance Fighting Rifle
- Fighting Shotgun
- Tactical Instructor
- Precision Rifle
What if I didn’t find an answer to my question?
