Steve Carey

In March of 1987, Steve Carey started his law enforcement career with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. He remained with the CCSO until February 1995 performing the duties of Road Deputy and K-9 Officer. After leaving CCSO, Steve was hired as a Patrolman/K-9 Officer by the Camden Police Dept. After completing the NRA Police Firearms Instructor course as well as the TN P.O.S.T. Firearms Instructor course, he became the Weapons Training Office for the department. In 1999, CPD assigned him to the District Attorney’s 24th Judicial Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. And while his duties at the Drug Task Force included those of K-9 Officer, Steve also went undercover investigating illegal drug traffic in Benton, Carroll, Henry, Hardin, and Decatur Counties. In 2001, Steve was brought back to the Camden Police Dept. as their Criminal Investigator. In 2002, he was hired by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office as Lieutenant over Criminal Investigations.

During his career in law enforcement Steve has completed numerous in-service training courses and various Officer Survival schools. Some of those courses are:

· TN P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officer – Inactive

· TN P.O.S.T. Firearms Instructor Course – Inactive

· UTM Criminal Investigators School

· D.E.A. Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab School

· N.R.A. Firearms Instructor Course

· Winchester Chemical Defense Instructor

· Monadanock Expandable Baton Instructor

· Fox Labs Chemical Weapons Instructor

· Glock Armors Course

· Multiple Tactical Response Courses since the mid 1990’s

Steve is a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
